Taktsang (commonly known as Tiger’s Nest), seen in the picture, high up in the mountains, is one of the most sacred sites in Bhutan and a place you must visit when you visit Bhutan. It is also one of the most challenging monasteries to get to. Located at an elevation of over 10,000 feet, Taktsang is the birthplace of Bhutanese Buddhism.
Tiger’s Nest Monastery, Paro, Bhutan – High Altitude, Steep Incline and Rough Terrain. We survived the gruelling hike up to the Tiger’s Nest Monastery, perched on the side of a Himalayan mountain.

On our return journey, halfway through, these simple wooden chairs at the only restaurant out there, seemed haven to our aching body, feet n all. Real bliss, though short lived, as we had to continue our trek to reach to a safe place before sunset…
